My goals for week 7 were to: fabricate more pages and circuits, finish up illustrations, begin HX testing, and try creating a narrator character for the power source.
I illustrated two more side characters (Willie's Dad and Willie's friend). All I have left now for characters is another friend for Bucky and a few background characters for various scenes. In addition, I have a couple more tablet variations I need to create for Willie's cyberbullying scenes.
We already finished one HX test with 8-year-old Gracie. We tested out our pop-ups, story, and a simple button circuit. We found that our story and the pop-ups fit well for 8-year-olds, and that a simple button circuit is effective in providing extra interaction. When asked about additional aspects she would like to see, Gracie replied that she would be interested in other ways of interactions like pull-able tabs.
We were also able to reach out to another contact, Amanda, that has a 10-year-old, Brooklyn. We scheduled to meet with her on February 23rd and will be testing almost all the same components as we did with Gracie to ensure that our project also meets to needs and desires of a 10-year-old.
I explored the possible addition of a narrator character. I illustrated out a bee and created various looks of a bee token that we will HX test on. I couldn't get my circuit to work, so I contacted Chris Hill to ask for help. He recommended that I try out a longer lasting battery or nylon tape. My partner, Alexandra, was able to create a nylon tape circuit, but we still have yet to create a working circuit with our narrator. We plan to look more into this this week and find out if this route is still possible.
