Our goals for week 11 and 12 were to: to get as much of the book built out as possible, get documentation of us making the circuits/book, finish remaining illustrations, potentially do more user testing if Dr. Z reaches out, and plan out what our final demo is going to look like.
What we ended up getting done was final edits on the story, laying out the wording on each 11 by 17 page and printing them, discussing storyboarding for our project, creating and testing out the cover for our book, laying out all our components on silhouette studio to be cut, finishing illustrations, and getting ahold of Dr. Zamore.
What still needs to be done is discussing the IRB and user testing with our capstone professor, potentially prepping for a final round of user testing, cutting our the rest of our pop-ups, and assembling remaining pages. We had hoped to be further along in the assembly by this point, but we lost two days of production due the NCAR fire and its evacuation orders. We are planning to have our book fully assembled by the weekend, so that we can begin final documentation.
For our final book, we are making to we're making sure that we incorporate feedback we've received from previous user tests, such as using the circular honey-comb design for our bee narrator, leaving 5/8 inch folds on each side of the page for gluing and assembling the book, and having a uniform page coloring (white borders with colored centers for the scene's background). In addition, we looked into the type of fonts most commonly used for children's books, and we decided to use Quicksand as our font. We also decided to have the interactions with the bee will flip back and forth from the left side to the right side in order to add variation to our project and make sure our project satisfies both left handed and right handed target audience.
