For round 3 of Hx testing, we tested Thaddeus (9 year old). We tested him on the story, circuits, pop-ups, and how our book compared to other books. By testing on a 9 year old, we will have tested on every age within our age range of 8-10 year olds; this allows us to even further confirm our age range.
From our testing with a 9 year old, we found that he also liked our book best out of the choices of a regular picture book, a regular pop-up book, and our pop-up circuit book. Thaddeus really enjoyed the interactivity elements our book provided that other books did not. He enjoyed the variety of audio, visual, and tactile interactivity. From all our interviews we have found that 3 out 3 children have liked our book the best, but we would still like to get more feedback.
In addition to our all of our project elements, we did ask our 9 year old about which narrator bee design he liked the best. He chose the bottom left honeycomb outline design. Combined with previous testing with two other kids we found that there was a 2:1 on liking that design. Due to the difficulty to find other children to test on, we have decided to go with this design because 2 out of 3 kids we tested on liked it best.
In regards to testing other children, we haven't had any luck. I did briefly talk with Dr. Zamore at CU Boulder, and they said they could possibly find more children for us to test on. I sent them an official email today explaining our project and when we would need testing done by. I am still waiting for a response.
