For the first round of HX testing, we want to test out our current story and illustrations to determine whether they are appropriate for different age groups. The users that we'll be interviewing are children aged 7 and 10.

Story:
Was the story easy to read? Were there any parts or words that you had trouble understanding?
Do you feel that the story was too long or too short?
What was the message of the story? Do you think Willie did the right things to convince Bucky to be his friend?
What would you do in Willie's place if someone like Bucky was being mean to you?
Do you like Willie? Is there anything you wish was different about him?

Illustrations:
How do you feel about the characters?
Is there anything you would change or add?
For the interview, I called my nieces Angelina (10) and Zoey (7) on skype. I sent the completed story (link below) and a few illustrations (right) to their mom Bri (38).
Full story can be found on my partner's website: Week 2 Progress (charlandtai.wixsite.com)

Findings:
The most important feedback received was that Zoey (7) was not able to read the story by herself. Her mom, Bri, said that Zoey knew some of the words but not enough to read by herself.
Other feedback received (right) was that Angelina (10) had no difficulty with the story in regards to wording, length, and tone. Both girls enjoyed the story and illustrations, understood the message of: treat others how you want to be treated, and understood the importance of telling someone when you are being bullied.
From this feedback, we can begin to better decipher our age group for our project. From our findings, we shouldn't have our age range be below 9, since we want our readers to be able to interact with the story without parental guidance.
